BOOK OF MORMON CORNER - Today's Reading - 2 Nephi 25:14-26
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? How do you talk, rejoice, preach and prophecy of Christ?

My thoughts - I love these verses. The Nephites kept the law of moses, but it was dead to them because they lived by a higher order, a patriarchal order, but because Christ hadn't been born yet and offered in great and last sacrifice, the law of Moses was required and they obeyed it. They looked forward in faith to that day. I think of the importance of this record being kept through the whole 1000 year history. Nephi knew the importance of record keeping, he beheaded a man in order to obtain the records. Men who were not worthy still obeyed the need to keep a record and pass these plates down through generations. I love this verse, "I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out." Every thought, word and deed, I must follow His way. If I want to be numbered among his people and abide with the holy prophets I have to learn to become holy, & teach my family to do so too. "This life is the time for men to prepare to meet God" as Alma taught.

Another thing I learnt today was that it took diligent effort to write, talk, preach, persuade, convince. If I am to point others to Christ and His gospel, I better be a living example of it, and that will take sacrifice. Like King Lamoni's father, I will have to learn to give up all my sins to know Him. It will also mean giving up things that sap my time and energy that are of little or no eternal importance. And filling my home with light and truth, constant pointing myself and my family to things of eternal worth, always looking forward to eternity, while remembering our pre mortal heritage.

Tomorrow's Reading (Day 64) - 2 Nephi 25:27-26:11
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? How can the Spirit help us to keep pride in check?

In The English Kitchen today, Chicken Fajita Pasta. Simple, quick and delicious.

Have a lovely Friday, I hope you get everything done you need to get done.  Don't forget along the way of your day!

  1. Hi, Marie! Are we in the last bit of countdown to Christmas or eh? How super-cute is that snowglobe cookie tin??!! What a fun idea. I've seen folks doing interesting things with melted candies, like those peppermint bowl--so pretty. That popsicle stick/depressor Nativity is an adorable idea. I wonder if we have any popsicle sticks?! LOVE that felt ornanment/pom pom garland *BIG SWOON* So many goodies here today... And LOVE all the eats with cherries--love cherries...mmm... How cute those mac & cheese bites--great idea?! We are very blessed to have a fireplace and will be using it much over Christmas. But thank goodness for the alternative, digital fire via YouTube for folks who are fire-less. After a busy autumn, we're looking forward to some slow-down time. And very much looking forward to the holiday weekend now! I'll be offline a few days to enjoy... Oh, my sister-friend--Wishing you, Todd, Mitzie and all yours a very Blessed & Beautiful Christmas and all the VERY BEST in 2018! :)))

  3. Yes, it is time to start thinking about next year already. With all the busyness of this year, I've found I need to start sooner. I pushed things off far too long and found myself sending packages off that won't be there till after Christmas this year. I'm going to check out todays recipe...Sounds very interesting. Happy Friday!

  4. Hi Marie~

You know I love your, Friday Finds! Wouldn't it be wonderful to have the time to make all of these delightful things?!

I have a friend who has the most adorable little Scottie Dog, he just struts around and looks so cute, she would love this shortbread tin.

So many cute ideas for my, Activity Day girls, especially the Nativity made with tongue depressors, so cute and simple. I also think they would have fun with the beaded sparkle ball, that's adorable!

But, you know me, I'm just drawn to anything crochet. My daughter has been wanting a pair of fingerless gloves, and these look wonderful and easy.

I have a little granddaughter who loves "little" toys. She has always been drawn to really tiny toys and loves collecting them. I'm going to try to figure out how to make the little tin, it's so cute!

I'm with you, I don't know if I could cut up a book. But, I did make a beautiful wreath with an old book. I went to the used book store and bought an old western paperback book. You can't really see the words on the pages, so it didn't make any difference what you used. I really think the runner is just beautiful though.

Your Book of Mormon Corner thoughts are so good. So many prideful people in the world. We have been told and told to watch out for pride and the dangers that come with it. I the books I have been reading about Joseph Smith, it constantly warns him to teach the Saints to avoid pride, to trust in Jesus Christ and to worship him in all we do. Such good advise, and we would be a happier people if we heeded it. Thank you for the reminder.

The Chicken Fajita Pasta looks delicious!!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb
