Small and Wonderful Things . . .

"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard

A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Lays has all kinds of different flavors of potato chips and occasionally they come out with a new flavor and right now they have Cheese & Onion flavor chips. I was so excited to see them. This was one of the most popular flavored potato chips in the U.K. I had to buy a bag to see how they compared and they compared very well. If you have a taste for Cheese & Onion potato chips from the U.K. you will love these. I hope they keep them permanently.

This past week we have been studying about Joseph in the Old Testament. You know of the multi colored coat. This song from Joseph, King of Dreams is just wonderful, and sums it all up beautifully. About how God is working in our stories from beginning to end and is with us all along the way, when we are in the pit, in our lowest moments and all through the journey to our becoming who we were meant to be and who He knows we can be. We can trust the journey. Its hard to do, I know. Trusting the process. When I look back on the past six years I can see God working in my life even when I was at my lowest point. Working to bring me to where I am now. It was hard. It was painful, but I am a better person today because of the journey. And I am grateful for the journey.

Church on Sunday. I always love going to church on Sunday. I miss the Ward I attended in the U.K. I had so many friends there and there was a very large congregation.  But I love this Branch I attend here in Nova Scotia. There are not a lot of people in comparison. Its a much smaller congregation but many have been my friends since 1998 when I first started going here. I love them dearly as well. I enjoy being with them on a Sunday, sharing our worship together, partaking of the sacrament together, fellowshipping together. It is good to spend that time with like minded souls. Whether it is a large group or a smaller group, it's all good. Church on Sunday, a very good thing.

Sunday dinner at Cindy's with the family. Eileen was really excited to be there yesterday as Cindy had made meatloaf and that is one of Eileen's favorite meals. I just love being with my loved ones. With Cindy, Dad, dan, and now Eileen. Great company, good food. Family.  I so appreciate Cindy including me each week.

There was the most beautiful snowfall on Saturday. Lovely big goose-down flakes. It was so pretty to look at.  You know snow this time of year is not really going to lay and if it does it won't be for long. This was beautiful to watch and of course it is all gone now. It was quite simply lovely.

March holds so much promise.  Spring.  The earth reawakening.  Rebirth. Easter week beginning with Palm Sunday.

This time I am getting to spend with my daughter. We are just enjoying each other's company so very much. I know it is the saddest of situations which brings her here, but I am so grateful that I am here and that I can support her in the way that I am. She will be okay, and maybe even better off in the long run.

Grateful for the rain and the snow.  The ground is saturated and the river is overflowing. I do not want a repeat of last year's drought and the fires.  I know there are still fires burning underground, or so they say. I hope we get enough rain in the coming weeks to thoroughly quench them.

Life. With all of it's twists and turns. Beginnings and endings. Ins and outs. It can be dirty and messing and oh so heartbreaking at times, but it can also be breathtakingly beautiful. I love it all. The bad because it helps me to appreciate the good even more. The good because everyone needs some good in their lives. Everything in between because I see the growth and the becoming through the process.

Life. Its just good. Oh, I will miss it when it's done, but I do believe that something even better lies ahead.

Farmhouse BBQ Beef Cups

In the kitchen today, Farmhouse BBQ Beef Cups. Eileen was really wanting me to make these. They are something that I used to make when the children were young and all at home. They all loved them. A simple biscuit cup, holding a BBQ beef mixture, topped with cheese and baked. Simple. Delicious.

I got one of my cupboards cleared out at the weekend, the one over the sink.  Today I am going to tackle the one at the end. It has three shelves and is a bit more involved. Wish me luck!

I hope you have a lovely day and that your week ahead is filled with a multitude of small and wonderful things. Be happy. Be blessed. Don't forget!

    1. We both really enjoyed ourselves. I think Eileen was spending too much time at home alone before she came to my place. I am getting her out as much as possible. Hugs. xoxo
