Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens . . . these are some of the things in life that I enjoy, and which make me happy, inspire me, or put a smile on my face. Maybe some of them are yours too. Let's share!
Cherries. They have to be one of my favorite fruits. Even more than strawberries. The cherry sellers from France would come over to the U.K. this time of year and you could buy them by the paper bagful on the side of the road. So delicious.
I also love cherries on things. Glassware, textiles, etc.
Barbie. I had the one with the brown bubble do and I had outfit #5 seen here. I loved my Barbie Doll. My sister had the one with the blond ponytail. I coveted that one. She also had a Dutch costume for her Barbie that I coveted.
Old Victorian towns. We have a few of these old houses in our town. They mostly house businesses. I don't think anyone can really afford to keep and heat one these days.
Cameos . . .
Stone Angels and Cherubs . . .
Vintage Aprons . . .
Humanized animal illustrations . . .
Audrey Hepburn . . .
Ginger cats . . . but you knew that already.
Red hair . . .
Wooden spools and silver thimbles . . .
Caps and veils . . .
Hope and wishes . . .
Isn't it marvelous the way nature works. A dandelion, with multiple seeds, all with their own mode of transportation ready to carry them near and far to a place where they can take hold and grow. Its like magic when you think about it.
And those are my favorite things for this week.
I had a surprise visit yesterday afternoon from a man I used to go to school with many, many years ago. My doorbell rang and there he was standing on my deck. We had a nice visit together. It had been essentially 55 years since we had seen each other.
A thought to carry with you . . .

ReplyDeleteHi, Marie! 🤗 LOVE the favourite things posts... and this one is fun! I love cherries--the shapes, the shape, seeing them printed on anything--YUM! Barbie... that takes me back too. I do remember having and playing with one. But I tended to love books and colouring/art more than dolls... haha! Cameos--*swoon*--I love cameos too. I have necklace with a small cameo pendant that was my mom's which is a lovely keepsake... I should wear it more! That cats illustration is adorable--look at them!! Audrey Hepburn... oh, to have the looks, the grace, the charm!! I always wanted red hair... I suppose it's the Anne Shirely-effect! My goodness...what a lovely things--your old acquaintance from school days long ago! Hope all goes well with your eye appointment today--all crossed. So good to catch up with you, my friend! I may not get to comment on each and every post, but please know I am reading/here 😊 and I always love seeing what your cats are up too as well-what characters they are! ((LOVE & BIG HUGS)) 💗
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to reconnect with an old friend from school. Good luck with those eye appointments. A hot and humid day is brewing.

Marie, you and I are cut from the same cloth, for sure. I love all the same things you like. Always dreamed of living in a Victorian home. And I remember every one of those old Barbie outfits (although I didn't own them, mind you!) Kind of back into Barbies now-a-days because of my little granddaughter. And the cameos... and the illustrations... Beatrix Potter, all of it! We are very much in sync!
ReplyDeleteAnd Marie! I can't even imagine opening the door to a surprise visit from someone I hadn't seen for 55 years! You just tossed that in there at the end like it was nothing, ha ha!
Best of luck with the eye appointment. ❤️
I’m getting caught up with your blogs. I enjoyed hearing & seeing about your favorite things. In common, we share a love for cherries, my favorite are Bings. First of season at the grocery I buy some & we have a curried Cherry Chicken Salad. Perfect for a luncheon with ladies, but my husband enjoys it. Now about Beatrix Potter, when you lived in the U.K. did you visit her farm up north? Our children’s nursery was decorated in that theme. I had watched the Tale of Beatrix Potter some 40 years ago and was enthralled. As always, the recipes are calling me to fix them, especially the Swedish Spice Cake. (I already have that pan for Norwegian Almond Cake. The Bethany Housewares, Inc. Scandinavian store is in my area. If there’s ever something you’d like to have from that source, please let me know.
