BOOK OF MORMON CORNER

Today's reading - Mosiah 21:9-27
Talk - Dieter F Uchtdorf - 'Perfect love casteth out fear'
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? What difference does it make when we are motivated by love instead of fear?

Thoughts - The fear caused anger, it caused fighting, it caused loss. When the people humbled themselves, they submitted to their circumstance, they turned to the Lord and cried out for His help. It was only once they stopped trying to do it their own way and opened the way for the Lord to help them, that He could then ease their burdens and prosper them,  a step at a time. I am prone to prideful independence, in the gospel this isn't the way, Heavenly Father is COMPLETE, I can depend on Him and He wants me to. Then He can show me how to fulfil my purpose and role here and prepare for eternity. Fear is a big block to this. Especially fear in trials as I have seen today in this reading.

When we are motivated to keep the commandments by our love for our Savior it helps us to get to know Him better and the commandments become written in our hearts and we love them and understand them. If we are motivated by fear then we will always see the commandments as restrictive and we won't come to know our Savior, the gospel becomes more of a chore than a joy which isn't good. Doing things out of love for others simply makes us feel better anyway.

Tommorrow's Reading (Monday) Day 123 - Mosiah 21:28-22:9
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? Why do you think we sometimes have to wait for our righteous desires?

In The English Kitchen today  . . .  an Irish Whiskey and Ginger Cake.  A real teatime treat for Saint Patrick's Day!

I was pleased with my hospital appointment yesterday.  He feels that what I have is acid reflux. I am already on medication for that, but he feels that it might need to be increased.  Also I need to stop taking aspirin and the ibuprophen that I take for my arthritis.  I need a prescription review and then if those changes are made and it still doesn't go away, then they will investigate further. It was a huge relief to find he doesn't think it is my heart. ♥

Have a great Saturday. Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Don't forget!

  1. Hi Marie, so pleased it's not your heart. Acid reflux can be really painful and come with severe chest pains so an increase in your medication will hopefully do the trick! Asprin and Ibuprofen are well known for upsetting your tummy so you'll probably get a different kind of pain relief. There's so much medication out there now that it is a case of trying different ones till you find what suits you.

Hopefully you can just relax now and enjoy the weekend....and the snow thats apparently on it's way!

My daughter and fiance are coming for the weekend (weather permitting) and we are going to see the Terracotta Army at the Liverpool World museum, that should be interesting.

Lot's of love and so pleased you're ok xxx

  3. Glad to hear of your results of the appointment. Not good but better than it could have been . I hope the change in meds does the trick. Many suffer from acid reflux and are able to keep it under control.

  5. I have a red and black flannel plaid blanket that everyone got one year from work..like the gray and black one..but bigger.

The blue baby's blanket reminds me of the one someone gave me for my baby shower..with sweater, booties, hat, even mittens.
    Yummy cake I bet!

  6. Hi Marie~

Here I am on Sunday for you, but late Saturday night for me...so sorry!

So many wonderful ideas and cute things to look at and ponder on! Of course I love them all, especially the sewing and crocheting projects. I still need to buy yarn to make a baby blanket for my nieces baby that will be here before I know it. I love those cute cafe curtains, and I have been wanting to do something different in my kitchen...those are adorable, and look easy, I need easy.

When my husband and I were missionaries at the Humanitarian Center in our area, I used to bring home receiving blankets and crochet around them, it was so relaxing, and they were so cute. I often thought about these sweet mother's and their new babies, I know that they were so appreciated.

I'm so glad that you found out that it's not your heart that was causing the pain, what a relief! I also take an anti-inflammatory for arthritis, and it bothers my tummy after a while. I need to go in and find out if there is something else I can take that won't cause me problems.

Have a wonderful and blessed Sabbath, Marie! XOXO

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb
