FOR TODAY, September 15, 2026

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW ...

 

Its a bit chilly this morning at 8*C/47*F, but the skies are clear and sunny. Can't complain about that.

I AM THINKING ...

Dad fell out of bed the other night. He said he was okay, but has had trouble walking ever since. Cindy took him to the Doctor yesterday and the Doctor ordered an urgent x-ray. The x-ray machine at the local hospital was under maintenance so she is taking him back first thing this morning. I hope he did not break his hip. He kept insisting at the time he was okay, so they took him at his word and got him back in bed.

I AM ALSO THINKING ...

Life turns on a dime. We never know what each day will bring. It can go from best moment to worst moment in a matter of minutes. Our lives are full of joyful highs and painful lows. Both are opportunities for growth.

Light in whatever way or shape it presents itself.

I AM ALSO GRATEFUL FOR ...

The spectacular show we are about to be given  . . . and to think it costs nothing.

 

IN THE KITCHEN ...

Ritz Cracker Pie.  Not the one that is supposed to taste like Apple Pie. This one is very different. It's like a rich caramel custard pie, quite similar to a pecan pie with a bottom crust of crushed crackers and coconut, and a rich filling.  Deliciously decadent.

ON MY "TO COOK" LIST ...

From Two Kooks in the Kitchen, Easy Curried Rice with Raisins. This sounds delicious. I love rice. I love raisins. I love curry. Win, win win!

THIS I BELIEVE ...

Why would God continue to give us good things if we don't notice and acknowledge all the goodness he has already given us.

The pumpkins are out. They are appearing all over the place. That must mean the winter squashes are ready as well. Yay!

AUNT DIMITY AND THE DUKE, by Nancy Atherton
