A Day Book . . .

FOR TODAY, June 11th, 2024

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW ...

It's another garbage day, but the sun is shining! Everything looks so green and fresh this morning. It is already +11*C and looks to be a fine day in the offing!

My snoopervisors are already busy snoopervising.  There are morning doves, chipmunks and blackbirds to keep an eye on.

I AM THINKING ...

I put a call out on Facebook for someone to come and do some paid garden work.  I hope that I don't get ripped off. I was quoted $20 to $25 an hour. I am not sure what the going rate is, but it seems reasonable.  Its hard work.

I AM ALSO THINKING ...

We are supposed to get dad moved by this weekend.  Things will change a lot when that happens.  Especially for dad and for Cindy.  I hope it all runs smoothly.

IN THE KITCHEN ...

Honey Garlic Parmesan Biscuits.  With a Honey & Thyme Butter for spreading. These were fabulous!  I gave some to Cindy for them to enjoy with their supper.  So flaky, crispy edges.  Loads of layers.  Delicious!

ON MY "TO COOK" LIST ...

From Dance Around the Kitchen. Oatmeal Bars. These look really tasty! I love a brown sugar frosting on anything!

I KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE ...

We are what we think. If we think negative, our lives will be negative. If we think positive, then our lives will be positive. Its all a matter of perspective, and choice. You can choose to be happy and have a glass that is half full. It makes all the difference in the world. Every day may not be a good day, but there is good in every day.

I WOULD LOVE TO CREATE ...

Nourish and Nestle Dish clothes or wash clothes.  You decide.

Cherry Heart Blog. Inspiration only, but I love this.

Love this also. Dawn Davis Crochet.

One Little Project.  How to make a paper boat. Cute.

Paper Butterflies.  The Graphics Fairy.

OH MY GOODNESS . . .

So pretty  . . .

I AM READING ...

PRETENDING TO DANCE, by Diane Chamberlain

Molly Arnette is very good at keeping secrets. She lives in San Diego with a husband she adores, and they are trying to adopt a baby because they can't have a child on their own. But the process of adoption brings to light many questions about Molly's past and her family—the family she left behind in North Carolina twenty years before. The mother she says is dead but who is very much alive. The father she adored and whose death sent her running from the small community of Morrison's Ridge. Her own birth mother whose mysterious presence in her family raised so many issues that came to a head. The summer of twenty years ago changed everything for Molly and as the past weaves together with the present story, Molly discovers that she learned to lie in the very family that taught her about pretending. If she learns the truth about her beloved father's death, can she find peace in the present to claim the life she really wants?

I love books by Diane Chamberlain.

  1. A doubly good day for mail for you, so glad you like the embroidered pillow cases, I remember you saying how you liked mushrooms. Hoping the move goes smoothly for your Dad and Cindy, yes, big changes for everyone. Still a chilly start to the day here, but no rain in the forecast. We are out grocery shopping this morning. Enjoy your day.

  3. Your pillowcases are very pretty. And I must make the Oatmeal Bars, maybe on the weekend. Hope you and Cindy get your Dad moved in safely. He is very lucky to have such good family members close by to help him. Love and hugs, Elaine (in Toronto).

    1. It would be nice to compare notes on the oatmeal bars Elaine. I am going to try to small-batch the recipe. Thanks for your wishes re Dad. It is a stressful time for him I know, and he is a person who doesn't stress a whole lot. We are so blessed to still have him with us. Love and hugs, xoxo

  4. Hope the move for your dad goes well and that Cindy is able to handle all the adjustments too...being a caretaker is not easy either. Life holds so many changes for us all...

  5. You bring sunshine into the days, Marie, no matter the weather, with your commentary and all of the wonderful things you discover and share. Thinking about the food that is good, but not great, at the eating places -- you are very busy, but have you ever thought to be a food consultant? Your suggestions to the places that are just ok, might be a turn-around, and sometimes it is just that the cooks in the kitchen need a little help. xoxo

Your comments mean the world to me, and while I may not be able to address each one individually, each one is important to me and each one counts. Thanks so much!
