Wednesday Witterings . . .

Funny thing this morning. I have awakened with a funny right eye.  At first I had double vision in it, which I thought was odd. It slowly seems to be rectifying itself, but I think I need to make an appointment with the eye doctor to see what's up with that.  I did check my blood sugars, which I do first thing every morning. Usually they are in the normal range but this morning they were in the high range. So the two things might be related.  It is slowly correcting itself, but I think it warrants being checked out.

Lately the right eye has been giving me a lot of trouble sometimes I have a shower and wash  my hair.  It ends up feeling really scratchy and is bloodshot.  No matter how hard I try to keep water from going into it. And then I end up with blepharitis in it overnight. I do have an appointment for another puff test on the 21st, but I think I need to see the eye doctor before then possibly, so will call today and try to make an earlier appointment.  The eyes are not something which you want to mess around with.

It seems like it's always something eh!  It keeps life exciting I guess!

I had an appointment yesterday (here at home) with a cra-liason-officer for the self-employed.  Cindy came over so that she could be here with me. She was working as an accountant in her last job so she understands these things much better than I do.  I do not have a mathematical brain at all. In fact, math has always been my worst subject.  Figures and such.  He was ever such a nice young man and very helpful.  I really got a lot out of his visit and figured out some things which I need to be doing.  I have been very good at keeping my receipts and such, but I could be doing much better. I am going to download a book-keeping program to my computer and start keeping a log in  my car of my goings on, etc.  It is great to keep receipts, but I need to be much better at keeping a record, which I have been aware of but have been procrastinating.

One of my weaknesses is procrastination.  I need to just make it into a habit each day. To do my book-keeping.

The kit kats had a visitor yesterday on the front deck.  A cat, looking very much like the one in the above photo, was sitting out there.  Cindy was here. She said it did not look very old. Cinnamon noticed him first and was very interested. Nutmeg soon joined in. There was a big staring contest going on.  Then he slowly started to slink away. It was quite interesting to watch the process.  Cat behavior is quite fascinating.  There was no growling, although Nutmegs tail was twitching. Cinnamon did scratch at the window a few times. LOTS of staring.  They have never seen another cat that isn't a ginger cat.  My sister brought Mac over one time, when he was quite young.  He is the only other cat that they had ever seen since they came to live with me.

Things have all settled down well with the cats at Cindy's house. Everyone is getting along splendidly, which is great. They always come out to say hi when I go over. Well, most of the time anyways, so long as it is not nap time.

Mac is always quite vociferous. He is a cat that likes to talk.  I find it quite endearing. He is such a little ham.

Yesterday and today have been blessedly cooler. I have not had to have my heat pump on to cool the place in any case. That will be a great help so far as the electric bill goes.  I am sure it is only temporary and the temperatures will go back up again, but for now I am enjoying the coolness.

I have never been a person that copes well with high heat and humidity.  They are not my friend.

Our friend Hazel will have had her procedure yesterday. I never quite got a full understanding of what was going on. The doctor was going to be removing a polyp or something from her bladder.  I will try to call her later this morning to see how she is doing.

Sadly one of my friends from church has just been diagnosed with liver cancer. She is my ministering sister partner. I was really saddened to learn of that.  She was at church on Sunday and is quite yellow in color.  I am not sure what the prognosis is but I don't think that it is very good to get liver cancer.  My friend Anna in the U.K. got it and did not last too long afterwards.  Please keep Eileen in your prayers. That is her name. She is such a dear sweet lady who is always serving others. Now it is time to serve her.

This picture appeared in my Facebook memories yesterday. A little painting I did way back in 2016.  I did 12 of these and made them into a calendar. Each one different than the other.  Sadly I think they got left over in the U.K. and I have no idea what happened to them. I do have a printed calendar however.  These were pictures that I really enjoyed doing.  I need to get back doing art, but where will I find the time, lol.  There are so many things that I would like to do. Make my dolls, paint, etc.

I am planning my next YouTube video, so watch this space.  That is a huge learning curve for me. I did not get as many views on the Scone video as I did on the Egg Salad video which is very surprising. I would have thought that people would be more interested in making scones.  It is fascinating just what people find interesting.

Somehow in doing the scone one, I found that in the presentation of the finished product part of the video, it ended up being in portrait rather than landscape and when I spliced them together I thought I had flipped it around, but it did not end up flipped, so half of the video is in landscape and the other in portrait.  As I said, a HUGE learning curve. Hopefully I will get better with time.

I am, as always, open to suggestions on topics I might cover in my videos, bearing in mind that my kitchen is very small and very dark. Maybe in time I will be able to afford to get a cooking ring/burner.  I had one in the U.K.    I am not willing or ready to put the money out for one just yet.  I still need to recap my losses from the latest blog debacle first. I am not overly comfortable spending the money until I feel feel financially safe again.

What a beautiful journal page.  An ode to Cath Kidston.    I wish that I could create journal pages as pretty as this. For one my writing is not that tidy.  Or at least it doesn't seem to be to me.  I do enjoy doing it however.  I am a note taker.  I like to keep written records.  I just wish I was better at keeping mathmatical/financial  records. I AM A WORK IN PROGRESS.  Working on that one.

My eye seems to be working a bit better now, but I will still call and make an appointment later as I think I need it checked out.  You cannot mess about with your eyes.

I have to get going now as I need to call the CRA at 8 in just a few minutes.

Lemon & Poppyseed Pull Apart Bread

In The English Kitchen today  . . .  Lemon & Poppyseed Pull Apart Bread.  Naughty. Naughty. Naughty. I dared only taste a tiny bit, but it was gorgeous.  This is a quick bread with beautiful fluffy layers, interspersed with a sugary lemon and poppyseed filling and sweet glazed with a Limoncello glaze.

I hope you have a most beautiful day.  Be blessed. Be happy. Stay safe.  Don't forget!

  3. Please make an appointment with your medical doctor to get yourself checked out about the double vision in your eye. About making videos in your kitchen, that is a great thing to do to show what can be accomplished in a small and dark kitchen. The airy and light kitchens with the AGA stoves are beautiful, but really, how many have that type of set up? Learning how to make delicious food with what one has to put up with in the kitchen is a true blessing! xoxo

    1. Thanks very much for your input! I don't think many people live in these homes with show-room style perfect kitchens either. I will bear that in mind! xoxo

  4. Marie, I hope you will call someone to ask about the eye because it may be a mini-stroke...glad its better...but yea, too high blood sugar is an issue too. You have been under so much stress for a long time...so these ole bodies can putup a fuss for sure!! I have had several mini-strokes...different a bit each time. Doing my best to avoid though cause one can eventually have full stroke. Take care!! Will pray for your friend too...my so many sick folk these days!!

    1. That was my first thought Elizabeth. A mini-stroke. Stress is a killer for sure. I try not to stress about most things, but I was under an incredible amount these past few weeks for sure. Thank you so much for your prayers. They are very much appreciated! Love and hugs, xoxo

Your comments mean the world to me, and while I may not be able to address each one individually, each one is important to me and each one counts. Thanks so much!
