All About British Sandwiches

Here is my latest video. This one is on British Sandwiches.  This is such a huge learning curve for me and every time I go to do one, I forget how I did the last one, haha. That's me!  In any case here you go.  If you  could like, comment or subscribe, it would be very much appreciated. I am also open to suggestions as to other topics that you might enjoy in the future!

In the meantime, have a great day and don't forget!

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. I am sincere and I am trying hard to make a go of it. I also happen to really love my topic so that helps! I will never be sophisticated and it shows. xoxo

    3. That’s your charm, Marie. You don’t want sophistication in the kitchen. Your videos reminded Larry of the Edna Jaques poems you post every Saturday. And how lucky is your neighbour that you share your bounty with her. You go girl! Love and hugs, Elaine (in Toronto)

    1. Thanks Monique! I also loved saltines as a girl, but with butter and canned pears. I really appreciate your support. They might be cringy videos to some, but I am trying my best! xoxo

  3. Move over Martha Stewart! There’s a new game in town! Loved your video, loved hearing your voice. You’re chatty, you’re knowledgable, you’re friendly. You’re a natural at this, Marie. I’d love to see a video of you making the jam bars your dad likes or your Mostly Apples Cake. Your sandwiches made me hungry. Kudos to you for trying something new. It’s going to fly! Love and hugs, Elaine (in Toronto).

    1. Thanks so much Elaine. Not as elegant as Martha, but I am trying! I am thinking of new things to share. Both of those are great recipes for sure! I hope you are right about the channel flying. Thank you so much for your confidence in me! xoxo

  5. Hi Marie! THE ENGLISH KITCHEN is not pulling up the current day when the search terms are put in (this is in the USA). It WILL pull up from the link you give in AND THEN WE ALL HAD TEA blog. But if someone is just wanting to go directly to The English Kitchen, it takes them to your Recipe Index, or to June, 2024. Until this is remedied, some of your viewers won't be able to click on the current day, and you may not get some of the income you normally receive until this is fixed. Now about your video: it shows your calm approach and your know-how. Watching you add ingredients and blend them was fascinating, and I don't know why, except that when you scrape out the little bowls with the ingredients, it made me want to go to the kitchen and get to work making something good. Could I suggest that you edit down your introductory commentary a little bit? If you give the historical information you want to impart about the food you are preparing, while keeping the commentary short and to the point, and yet still with your friendly and sweet conversational style, your viewers won't become impatient waiting for the recipe preparation to begin. Now this is a tough thing to say, but I want your videos to be appealing, and so I am going to say it. The apron -- well, it's black and the "messy" word dominates the view. This is not appealing, although I do see the humour of it, and I know that your sister gave it to you. But this is all about the appeal of food that you prepare. A clean white starched chef's apron would look great, and it would look like you mean business. Covering your hair, or using a pretty head band, would define your hair as being off your face and away from the food you prepare. These are subtle ways to look professional, while also looking your sweet and very competent self. You know your way around the kitchen, obviously, and the sandwiches look delicious. If you have all of the sandwiches (or whatever you have prepared in advance) placed on a pretty plate or tray together, and covered with a single piece of plastic film, you won't have to go through unwrapping each and every thing you have made. Again, it's all about presentation. Just my opinion, and I think your video blogging is going to be great! It looks good already. I hope that you can find out why THE ENGLISH KITCHEN isn't coming up with the current day when a search is done, because some people don't know about AND THEN WE ALL HAD TEA blog, and may not be able to find the current day of THE ENGLISH KITCHEN. xoxo

    1. I had a look around my settings and tweaked a few things, but I am not really all that computer literate so was a bit nervous to change anything, especially after my recent experience. Thank you very much for your constructive criticism. I very much appreciate it. I will try to leave a link to everything on all my pages. Thanks so much! xoxo

  6. Video well done, sandwiches are good topic since people are too busy to cook and they are an easy go to meal. Other topic that might make a good video might be anything cat-related, such as a tutorial on bathing, grooming and nail trimming.

    1. Oh my, my cats are so spoiled. My sister does all the nail trimming for me. They will not cooperate for me at all when it comes to that. I brush them every day, but other than that, they groom themselves and Cindy does the clipping. I have a few ideas of what I can do in future though and thanks so much for your feedback and suggestions! xoxo

  7. Great video. I do agree that Google is not providing a link directly to your EK site, but to your Facebook page or to older pages. This is something that Google will probably sort out eventually. On my site there is a place to check for search engines to find your site, so if you can see that and be sure it is checked that might solve something. You will have to hunt around in the settings, as not every site is exactly the same.

  10. Hello Marie, kudos to you for creating videos. I think it is a fabulous idea. People love seeing how things are made. I would add a link to The English Kitchen in your navigation menu, so people can find your blog and see all of your recipes.

  12. Enjoyed the latest video. Some of those sandwiches were unusual to me although I repeatedly heard about cheese & pickle when I was in the UK. I guess I didn't eat many sandwiches. Will definitely make the coronation chicken sandwich. I love curry. Do you have a link to the new YouTube location on this page or on the English Kitchen? Although I signed up to follow it I don't get any notice when there is a new video and I keep forgetting the name ( although it is a good name). And I am a little media challenged sometimes.

  13. Hello Marie! Great video! You are much more tech savvy than me…I wouldn’t know the first thing about doing something like a video and splicing and all….I for one, am truly impressed and I’m sure I’m not alone in that. Keep up the great work, you are brave and diligent and a great teacher. Sending you blessings and best wishes while I await to see more of your talents!♥️♥️V.

  14. I have watched hours and hours of British television and one of the detective shows always had a sandwich and I wondered about them so thanks for teaching us. Is the cheese in the cheese and pickle typically cheddar or so me other? First saw your lovely recipes on FB and meandered to this site. I'm 67 and on my own also. If you live in British Columbia we're not too far apart.

    1. Generally speaking it is cheddar! Cheddar is one of the most popular cheeses in the UK and works very well in sandwiches. I use a strong cheddar myself, but a medium would also work well. It is not crumbly like other cheeses! I am on the opposite coast from you! Beautiful Nova Scotia! xoxo
