These are a few of my favourite things . . .
Didn't you just love that movie when you were growing up? I can remember going to see it in the Base Theatre in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. I was 10 years old, and I thought it was pure magic. I learned all the words to all the songs and I still love the film to this day. We have it on dvd. Perhaps I will get Todd to dig it out so that we can watch it later on. Sounds like a plan!
One of my favourite holidays was the one we took to Austria in 2009. We went on the Sound of Music Coach Tour. We had a wonderful time. It is a beautiful country. We saw all of the sights from the film, enjoyed some wonderful food, made some lovely friends and built a beautiful memory together. So grateful for that.
Our Health Minister has said that we should be prepared for the long haul here with the Coronavirus. "Restrictions will last the year." Until they come up with a viable vaccine, we are in this with no lifting of the current restrictions. I saw that coming. There is just so much we don't know about this illness. I don't like to think about it . . .

Good morning, Marie. I love lilacs, too, but they are not yet in bloo here. We have our daffodils and are waiting for the tulips 🌷. I love the pictures you chose to illustrate the "favourite things" song from "The Sound of Music". And your lemon chicken recipe sounds very good. DeleteWe sang a lot of the songs from The Sound of Music when I was in High School...LOVED those songs...and later read the books and watched the movie...all lovely. You know the actors, esp. the kids, have stayed in close contact and became a family really from what I have read. Some nice books out about that too. I would love to see Europe...well, the mountain areas for sure!! Cities never appeal but the countryside and mountains...you are so fortunate to have been able to go!!
ReplyDeleteYea, the gov here just extended our stay home orders until end of May now...they already dismissed rest of school so not a surprise...esp. in our super liberal state. Not that I necessarily think it is all that bad to stay home. But you hear so many conflicting things and obviously the medicals are way behind really...seems that there are now 30 mutated kinds. We can hope the mutated ones are weaker. I don't mind staying home...but I do mind the difficulty of getting necessary things. Oh well..we may be forced to "make do" in unconventional ways more so with time...guess we will see.
Thanks for the reminder of the movie...it was sad in ways, though the real story was different you know...they did not escape that way...they simply went on vacation to Italy I think it was, and never came back to Austria...for the reasons in the movie...either way, brave family. Have always wanted to go stay in their lodge in Vermont I think it is.

Interestingly enough Elizabeth, my cousin's wife worked for the family at their Inn in Vermont for many years and has loved her job. Thankfully when I was working we got to travel quite a bit in Europe, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, several trips to Germany and Austria. We have loved all our visits and the scenery has been spectacular and the food as well. Nobody does breakfast better, in France with the croissants, and in Germany with the Brotchen and cold meats/cheeses. Loved every minute and bite of every holiday. God willing we will be able to go at least one more time. We will see! Love and hugs, xoxo

I too loved the sound of music. It's a classic and will never grow old. Still facilities children today. That song still brings some warm fuzzy feelings.
