The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY, November 12th, 2019

Outside my window...
Its windy, its cold, its dark, its wet, its like winter . . .

I am thinking ...
About howmuch Todd and I enjoyed our meal out yesterday. We went to Pesto Yacht and it was gorgeous. Its on the ParkGate Road and is an Italian place.  We really splurged and had the £11.95 menu and I had a mocktail and we both had gelato for dessert.  Gorgeous meal and great company. We were right by the fireplace, so very cosy also.

I am thankful for ...
Having someone to share my life with. If I hadn't met Todd I'd have probably ended up alone. We have so much in common and we enjoy each others company so much. I love him. He loves me. We  are lucky to have each other.

In the kitchen ...

Chocolate & Cinnamon French Toast

Cinnamon & Chocolate French Toast, made with a sourdough yeast-free bread.  Delicious!

On my "To Cook" list ...

LaHave Bakery Oat Cakes.  My sister made them and said they were really good.  From A Canadian Foodie.

Good to know ...

I am creating ...

I am reading ...

The Beekeeper's Promise, by Fiona Valpy
Heartbroken and hoping for a new start, Abi Howes takes a summer job in rural France at the Château Bellevue. The old château echoes with voices from the past, and soon Abi finds herself drawn to one remarkable woman’s story, a story that could change the course of her summer—and her life.

In 1938, Eliane Martin tends beehives in the garden of the beautiful Château Bellevue. In its shadow she meets Mathieu Dubosq and falls in love for the first time, daring to hope that a happy future awaits. But France’s eastern border is darkening under the clouds of war, and history has other plans for Eliane…

When she is separated from Mathieu in the chaos of German occupation, Eliane makes the dangerous decision to join the Resistance and fight for France’s liberty. But with no end to the war in sight, her loyalty to Mathieu is severely tested.

I am enjoying this book. It takes place in an area of France which Todd and I spent a few weeks a number of years ago, which adds to the pleasure.  Very slow at getting this done. I keep falling asleep.

  4. So many lovelies here, I like the blue birds and the forget me nots. I wonder if the manor house is open to the public now. Let's follow the trees as the poem suggests and "be easy and shine."

  5. I'm so glad you and Todd had a lovely dinner out. It is always nice to be treated to a lovely meal. We got lots of snow yesterday and it is very cold today - more like January than November. But the snow will encourage peope to start their Christmas shopping. Stay warm and cozy. Hugs, Elaine
