The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY, February 12, 2019

Outside my window ...
Its still dark, but I am a bit later this morning and I can hear the birds beginning to wake up  . . . the morning chorus has started.

I am thinking ...
Now that the stove is working again, what am I going to cook/bake today? My wheels are turning.

I am thankful for ...
My new journal. It has dotted pages, how better to keep a straight line my dear. I'm going to use it to journal my "mom" memories.

One of my favourite things ...

Old street signs.  They have such character.

In the kitchen ...

 Chicken & Orzo Soup

Chicken & Orzo Soup.  Its fabulously tasty.

On my "To Cook" list ...

Julia's Album.  Ravioli with Spinach, Artichokes, Capers & Sundried Tomatoes.  This looks incredibly tasty.

Good to know ...

I Will Prepare.  Homeowners file for emergency preparedness.  You never know when disaster will strike.

I am creating ...

Studio Miranda. How to work German short rows in knitting.

Ann Wood Handmade.  Very nice mice, a free pattern.

Naomi Loves.  62 ideas for a letter.  Mail from the colouring book.

Kerry May Makes.  10 digital free ephemera sites.

Blitz Knitz.  Joan Crawford Style knit peplum jacket.  Love LOVE this.

Oh my goodness ...

Black Seedless Grapes  . . .  tis the season  . . .  love them. They are my favourite of all the grapes.

I am reading ...

Cradle on the Waves, by Mae Leveson
A chance opportunity to move to Prince Edward Island is the inspiration behind Mae's account of leaving the city behind and exchanging it for life in Canada's smallest province. Here she discovers the beauty of the rolling green hills and stunning beaches, which attract almost a million visitors each year, as well as the reality of life on an island after the tourist season has ended. She rediscovers that sense of joy, which was missing from her former life, and shares her observations and insights of what it takes to be an Islander.

This is really, really good! I'm about halfway through now and I don't want it to end.

I am looking forward to ...

Doing some baking . . . today!

Dreaming About ...

Vintage Bee Pins  . . .

Lilac time  . . .

A kitchen large enough to swing a cat around  . . .

A cute little house to call our own  . . .

Vintage tins  . . .

Makes me smile ...

A pair of ducklings  . . .  reminds me of my sister and I when we were growing up . . .

Something to watch ...

Hinterland on Netflix.  Takes place not too far from us.  I love police/crime drama.

A thought to carry with you ...

There's been a lot of soup making and soup eating here lately. :) That emergency/prep file is a great idea--great with eveything in one place!! That's a nice short row shaping turtorial. I'm going to need to learn that better for a couple of knitting projects on my list for this year. Those little felted mice are sooo cute!!And how FAB is that knit peplum jacket--wow!! Ah, Chatsworth House... Mr Darcy, YES, please!! haha... :) Thanks for the fun today... Wishing you a BLESSED week, my friend! LOVE YOU LOTS!! ((LOVE & BIG HUGS))

    1. I think Hinterland would be right up your alley Monique, although you might need sub-titles until you get used to the Welsh accents! We love it. I might have to start with the last page also, lol. Love and hugs, xoxo

  3. So many interesting things...and yesterday it was NARNIA here outside...but by evening the rains began so it is washing away...but quite incredible to have at least 2 feet of snow if only for a day...and quite enabling to the imagination too. Hope your baking goes well today!!
