I hardly ever have enough time these days to do a proper post on Sunday mornings, so I am going to start something new. I am just going to post a picture, and then you can tell me what it makes you feel or think in the comments. I will too. Today's picture is called "Winter Sunshine" by Hilder Rowland. Rowland Frederick Hilder (OBE) was an English marine and landscape artist and book illustrator. He was born in New York to Roland and Kitty Hilder. Following the outbreak of World War 1, Hilder's English father decided in 1915 to return to his native county of Kent, England to enlist in the army. Hilder died at the age of 88.
Having lived in Kent, this makes me a bit nostalgic for the area. I can see the faint image of Kentish Oast Houses in the distance, and the frozen fields remind me of the many walks that Todd and I used to take with Jess, trodding on hard frozen ground through the orchards surrounding our cottage. Its a really misty morning, but the sun is beginning to break through the cloud cover and it promises to turn into a very fine day! Maybe if we are lucky, there will be hot air balloons flying overhead in the afternoon . . .

My comment is about the English Kitchen Blog, I absolutely love it, but as much hard work, time and love that you put into it, you might want to consider less postings each week. Most cooking Blogs don't post each day. And in as much as we look forward to each posting, we also want you to have more time with your family and friends and every day things. We will still cherish each post we do recieve. Us followers will understand perfectly. Thanks, Dale

ReplyDeleteI love this idea, what a great way to start a conversation! This beautiful painting reminds me that, even though it may looK bleak outside, there is hope. You can see the sun peeking through the clouds, the shadows of the bare trees and the houses, just barely visible through the mist. It tells me that Spring is just around the corner.
What are your thoughts on the 2 hour block? I'm anxious to go to church today!! XOXOXO!!

Love your thoughts Barb! Spring is just around the corner for sure! I am missing the third hour, but I am sure we will adjust. A few other changes as well, no more announcements at the beginning of meetings. You have to go online and look at the Ward Calendar to see if there are any, same with RS. It was different for sure. DeleteMarie - When I first opened up your blog on my phone, the picture was small and I thought it was a cool picture of a temple in the mist. I zoomed in to take a closer look and that is when I realized it wasn't a temple but a structure with what looks to be a farmer out plowing his field with horses. Then my mind went back to my first thought of the temple and the farmer working so hard and I imagined it as the work it takes to make it back into the presence of our Heavenly Father. Like the saying...No One Said It Would Be Easy, But Worth It!
