The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY, September 18, 2018

Outside my window ...
Its very windy and there looks to be some nasty weather in the offing.  That's September here in the UK. Its hit and  miss weatherwise. I would never plan a trip here for September. We can't complain however, as we have had a beautiful summer!

I am thinking ...
I am thinking about my toe.  Its not as painful today as I thought it was going to be.  The most painful part of it all was getting the injections into the toe for the freezing. I thought I was going to go through the roof when that happened. They had to inject it twice because as they started to cut out the nail, I could feel it, so they added more anesthetic.  Having said that, the two podietrists who were doing the procedure were very nice, and helpful and did their best to make me at ease. I go back next Monday for a dressing change.  I was not at all uncomfortable through the night last night and slept well, today I am off to the Docs for my flu shot.

Also, my sister has developed a DVT in one of  her legs so I would ask for prayers for her that they can resolve this problem quickly and easily,  without any complications.  Thank you so much! (I hope she doesn't mind me asking!)

In the kitchen ...

Spiced Pear Chutney
Spiced Pear Chutney, made with some of the pears from our tree.  It turned out lovely!

On my "To Cook" list ...

Lemon Meltaways from Saving Room for Dessert.  Just the name makes me want to bake them.

Good to Know ...

The definitive check list on when to clean everything in your house.  Love this.  From Good Housekeeping.

I am creating ...
Rock This Revival. How to draw 15 effortless flowers.

Happiest Camper.  5 minute washcloth soap holders.

Tracy Lynn Crafts.  Pan handle pot holders that are also pinch pot holders. Genius!

Crazy Little Projects.  On the go Tic Tac Toe.

Diane Again, making envelopes from Scrap Book Papers.

Creativities.  Rose Granny Squares.  So pretty.

Oh my goodness ...

A very rare treat.  Jelly Beans. I love them, especially the ones that taste like popcorn, and the watermelon ones.

I am reading ...

The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes, by Ruth Hogan
Once a a spirited, independent woman with a rebellious streak, her life has been forever changed by a tragic event twelve years ago.

Unable to let go of her grief, she finds solace in the silent company of the souls of her local Victorian cemetery and at the town's lido, where she seeks refuge underwater - safe from the noise and the pain.
But a chance encounter with two extraordinary women - the fabulous and wise Kitty Muriel, a convent girl-turned-magician's wife-turned-seventy-something-roller-disco-fanatic, and the mysterious Sally Red Shoes, a bag lady with a prodigious voice - opens up a new world of possibilities, and the chance to start living again.

Until the fateful day when the past comes roaring back...

Looking forward to ...
The Ladies Dinner in November. Every November all the ladies in our Ward, or at least all who wish to attend, get together at a restaurant in Wales and enjoy a meal together.  Its always a lot of fun!

Dreaming About ...

Teacup Figurines  . . .

Red and White Kitchen  . . .

A bedroom under the eaves  . . .

Sweet Elm dolls  . . .  so sweet.

Vintage Prom  . . .

Something to watch  ...

We watched this yesterday and it was a nice movie. A bit preachy in parts, but overall we enjoyed it. There was no swearing or sex or violence.

Makes Me smile ...

I love the sound of rustling leaves . . .  as a child we had some big pines outside our house and I loved to lay in bed and listen to the wind blowing through them.  Made me feel like Heidi.

  5. I do hope your toe heals well. It doesn’t sound fun. I have a little toe that has been bothering me and I need to see what the problem is.
Yup! Those cookies looks so good; I do want to make them.
Many years ago this would have been my house cleaning list. I’m afraid, I don’t do those things as often as I should. I will copy the list because it is a good one and try to improve.
I wonder if I could learn to do these flowers. I don’t have the artist gift but it would be fun to try.
I love the crafts and the Tic Tac Toe one is cute.
I really love that beautiful Rose Granny Square. I wish I could master that one. Of course, I just need to go back to a simple pattern of some kind and try again.
Oh, I do love that red and white kitchen. I wish they had that kind of decor now; way fun. The bedroom is fun too.
    I do love vintage clothes.
The movie looks like a good one.
I too love the sound of the rustling leaves. It brings back some memories too.
I always enjoy your corner of the kingdom photo.
I think your dinner with the sisters in November looks like such a fun event to look forward too.
Blessings and hugs with loving htoughts for you!

    1. It is a really fun event LeAnn! Totally outside church and people are welcome to bring friends. Its a great opportunity for us to enjoy a nice meal together outside of church. The restaurant knows us now and offers us hot chocolates instead of coffees and teas. Its a really fun evening! Love, hugs, and blessings to you! xoxo
