My Friday Finds . . .

A few of the things  I find each week that pique my interest, bring me joy, inspire me to learn, create, do, become . . . Maybe they will do the same for you!

How to do the magic knot.  Apparently its practically invisible. From Melanie Ham. The idea of having no threads to weave in is quite appealing I admit.

Ivy Joy, how to make an envelope  out of almost anything.

Family Food on the Table.  Sweet Potato Toast. Sounds interesting!

From the people at Kraft.  Easy Lamb Cake.  Cute!

Paper Trail Design, a free printable.

Quilting Digest. A free coasters and coaster caddy pattern.

Bunny Egg Cosy Tutorial from Why didn't Anyone Tell Me.  Cute and they look quick to make.

From Favourite Things, pretty fonts for free.

I Heart Crafty Things.  3D paper Tulips.

Lia Griffiths, Tissue Paper Poppies.  Very pretty.

Kiki Ramone.  A complete free tutorial on how to make a Bento Bag.

Meg Made with Love.  A free download for crochet labels.   Love this.

Mash Up Mom. How to dry herbs in the microwave.

Homespun Seasonal Living.  How to care for Wooden Utensils.

Borei Design.  DIY Paper Clay.  Easy.

A Spicy Perspective.  Slow Cooker Garlic Chicken and Potatoes.  This looks and sounds yum.

BOOK OF MORMON CORNER

Today's Reading - Mosiah 24:16-25:14
Question - Why do you think we need to give thanks? How can we lift our voices to praise God?

ThoughtsToday D&C 59:21 came to my mind, "in nothing doth man offend God... save those who confess not his hand in all things". Even so, I was thinking, giving thanks does not do anything to exalt God. So why is it important to Him that we do it? I believe we are asked to do it purely for our sakes, because of how it changes us. If I forget to thank Him, is that not the same as forgetting Him? Today I was helped to see that commenting on these groups is a way I can raise my voice to praise God. Sharing my testimony is another way. But also today I was reading 2 Samuel 22 and I saw the way David praised God, it made me want to try to pray in that way. I'm committing to a week trial of it!

Gratitude is a healing principle. To lift my voice in praise of God means to use my words to speak OF Him and to use my words to speak LIKE Him.

Tomorrow's reading (Day 128) - Mosiah 25:15-26:13
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? How do you gain understanding in times of unbelief?

In The English Kitchen today  . . .  Blondies.  Simple and delicious.

Have a great Friday.  I am so excited that I am going to get to see and spend time with our friends Jo and Colin today.  Jo was the housekeeper at the manor when we first moved there.  I love her to pieces.  She is a great friend. We are going to The Pheasant Inn for lunch, and the sun is shining.  I love it there.  Spectacular Views!

Don't forget today!

  1. Hi Marie, lovely finds again!

Are you going to the Pheasant Inn by the candle factory? If so, you're right, its absolutely gorgeous there. The food and the views! The last time I went in the spring time there were thousands of daffodils lining the country lanes, it was breath taking. Hope there all out for you today! Have a great time.

    1. Thanks Kate! That is indeed where we are going. I thought it would be the perfect spot to give Jo and Colin a taste of Cheshire. You can see all the way up to Liverpool from there. It is gorgeous. I am hoping all the Daffodils will be in bloom and that they like it too! Love to you! xoxo

  2. Hi, Marie--Happy Friday! So many goodies here today... I'm very curious to see about that magic knot technique--that's new to me. Great idea for the sweet potato toast bread "replacement"... I think I'd still like bread, though. ;) That marshmallowy lamb cake is sooo CUTE--and so are those crochet bunny egg cozies. Those paper tulips are so pretty! And how lovely those tissue paper poppies...*swoon"... folks think of the neatest things. Nice article for caring for wood utensil. I usually rub a little olive oil into my cutting boards and spoons, but may try this wood oil recipe. Ooo...your blondies look sooo good! I was going to bake brownies for the weekend, but might have to make it blondies instead after seeing this. ;) Have a WONDERFUL time with your friends visiting--so glad for you!! :) Wishing you all a happy weekend ahead. LOVE YOU LOTS!! :))) ((LOVE & BIG HUGS))

  5. Hi!

I have always wanted to know how to make the magic know, it doesn't look hard at all! I wonder if the wood oil would work on other wood? I have an old hutch that really needs to be oiled, and a simple oil like this would work perfect. Those tissue paper poppies are gorgeous! I would love to have a bunch of those on my kitchen table...gorgeous.

Can you believe that, Easter is in just around the corner? I'm always looking for something cute for dessert, this would be fun. I also have to come up with a fun craft for Activity Days on Monday. I thought since it was General Conference over Easter week-end, I would have them make a cute flower pen and give them a little tablet to take notes in. I run out of ideas quickly these days.

I love the napkin idea. I've seen it done with a chocolate egg, and who doesn't love a chocolate egg?! It's such a simple, cute idea!

I hope you had fun at lunch, just the name of the restaurant sounds fun! Nothing like getting together with old friends and reminiscing... :0)

I feel like we can give thanks to, Heavenly Father just by doing the things He asks us to do, trying to keep the commandments, being kind to each other, serving each other, and just loving one another. And yes, I think it 's so important to speak of Him and like Him...you are so good at this one, Marie. I love reading your thoughts each day! Love you tons!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

  6. I'll have to get some dark brown sugar to make those blondies Marie. They look sooo good! I'll never forget when I went over a friend's house and ate for the first time a blondie bar. I wanted the recipe so bad but didn't dare to ask..they owned a restaurant..didn't want to hear no. Always have been shy when it comes to asking for something.. even a favor. Lol.
Hope you had a great time with your friends!xo
