These are a few of my favourite things . . .
Nail Polish ot Lacquer as they call it over here and I just love LOVE this colour. I am wearing it now and it looks so nice. Goes wonderfully with my flower printed black church dress and makes me feel elegant. For years and years I did nothing like this for myself. I started painting my nails when I got into my 40's, had to stop when I was working as a chef, and now I just am enjoying having nice nails again. I don't keep them long. Just about what you see here. I like it that way. More natural.
My new mug. I love robins and I love mugs. I love robin's eggs. I love paint splatters. This is a Wrendale Designs Garden Friend Mug by Royal Worcester. It makes me happy. On one side the robin looks like this and on the other side it is . . .
Plucking a worm. I LOVE it! I meant to tell you about it last week. But better late than never! Todd is under strict orders to never never use it. If it gets broken I would be most inconsolable.
Clocks. From Big Ben to small alarm clocks. I just love clocks. I love the ticking. I love it when they chime. I love it when they play music. There is a lot of comfort to be felt in the ticking of a clock.
We are both quite loving The Crown on Netflix. We only just finished watching episode 9. It is so very well done and you feel like a fly on the wall watching it all unfold. Right now Prince Phillip is not coming over as a very nice person.
Anything shaped like a heart. I adore hearts. Heart shaped jewelry. Heart shaped pillows. Heart shaped cookies and cakes. Hidden hearts. Found hearts. I just love hearts.
Little necks and ears. I want to snuffle them.
Vintage Dolls. I don't have any. But that doesn't stop me from loving them. You can love things you don't have from afar. Just so long as you don't covet them.
The Wisdom of Winnie the Pooh. It is so profound. Children's stories that adults can appreciate. What could be better than that?
Audrey Hepburn. I liked her films and I like reading about her. I love photographs of her. She was very elegant. And, I believe, very nice.
And those are my favourite things for this week. What are some of yours?
A thought to carry with you . . .
A picture one for this week.
To all my American family and friends!
Happy Thanksgiving. May your day be surrounded with family, friends, more food than you can eat and most important of all. Lots of love.
In the English Kitchen today . . . Crumb Topped Marble Spice Cake. Nom nom!
Have a beautiful day . . . keep hoping, keep believing . . . don't forget . . .

And I do too!
Enjoy your day. I am wiped by heat and driving on very hot roads. God bless.
ReplyDeleteHi Marie, I love all of your favourite things today I could of chose them myself, apart from one, I hate, hate, hate a ticking clock!! I have no idea why. I think it just reminds me that my life is slowly but surely disappearing and that I can't get it back! I remember when my mum who was in hospital and terminally ill was in a room with a ticking clock on the wall. I was like a demon!! I had to ask for it to be stopped, which they very kindly did. I know, I'm weird!
ReplyDeleteLots of love xxx
I keep forgetting you are going into Summer Suzan! God bless you! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOops Katie! I don' t now why I find them comforting. The only time I don't like them is when I am trying to fall asleep. Then they can be a tad bit annoying. Thank goodness for ear plugs! Love and hugs! xoxo
Your little cup is adorb:)
ReplyDeleteLovely things Marie:)
I love love the cup Monique. But I have always been a fan of her art. It inspires me. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love that mug and the color of your nail polish.
ReplyDeleteI do love your Thursday ...loves.....I have a China mug with a robin on that I drink from ..one thing I can't stand though is thick mugs, they have to be China or not at all....When I was on our cruise I went and had a manicure for the very first time, it was wonderful so relaxing as she creamed my hands and arms for a wee while then set to doing my nails I'm afraid I don't really like coloured nails but was persuaded to have a beautiful pearly pink shade. She asked me what kind of lacquer I wanted ?....me, no idea, what do you suggest ? Shellack she said will last two three weeks...right said I that's what to do.......I have to say I love it my hands look so nice. with my pearly pink nails..even now (at least three weeks later). I keep glancing down at them. I wish I could afford to have them done here nearer home but think it might be expensive .....at last we have had a glimpse of the sun today and tomorrow we are having ...real...sunshine all day....that will make us all feel much happier...sending an extra hug and kiss to you and Todd on this Thanksgiving day xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Doris! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAhh Sybil, I am sitting here picturing you with your pretty pink nails. My dark ones have lasted a week now and no chipping or anything and I've been going crazy with a gluegun! We had some sunshine yesterday and it looks like we will have more today! Yay for the sunshine! Hugs and kisses right back to you, Masy and Mary! xoxo
