The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .
FOR TODAY, August 11th, 2015
Outside my window ...
The sun is just beginning to rise. The days are becoming noticeably shorter now. It is often beginning to get dark now a bit before 9 and we are having to put the light on here in the living room.
I am thinking ...
We can go and pick up the main computer now. It didn't take them very long to sort it out. I am thinking about the money spent and am hoping that it was money well spent!
I am thankful for ...
We had Family Home Evening with some good friends last night. Grateful for friends we can share these things with.
In the kitchen ...
Celebrating Afternoon Tea Week with Cranberry and Orange Muffins, and
Lemon and Blueberry Scones. Find out more here.
On my "To Cook" list ...
These Candied Lemon Tarts look pretty tasty From Bakers Royale.
I am creating ...
Thinking about Christmas now. It's never too early to get started, especially when time is limited . . .
I love these little Votive Jars. They would be cute to decorate the dinner table. From Good Housekeeping.
These little felted toadstool acorn ornaments are just adorable! From lil fish studios.
Mason Jar Snow Globes. I love them. From Classy Clutter.
These Homemade Hot Cocoa Kits would make really nice gifts. From Hoosier Homemade.
This little felt embroidered robin is adorable. From Etsy.
I am reading ...
All Fall Down, by Jennifer Weiner
Allison Weiss is a typical working mother, trying to balance a business, ageing parents, a demanding daughter and a marriage. But when the website she develops becomes a huge success, she finds herself challenged to the point of being completely overwhelmed. As she struggles to hold her life together and meet the needs of all the people around her, Allison finds that the painkillers she was prescribed for a back injury help her deal with more than just physical discomfort - they make her feel calm and get her through the increasingly hectic days. Sure, she worries that the bottles seem to empty a bit faster each week, but it's not like she's some Hollywood starlet partying all night. It's not as if she has an actual problem. Until she ends up in a world she never thought she'd experience outside of a movie theatre: rehab. And as Allison struggles to get her life back on track, she learns a few life lessons along the way.
I've only just started this book, but am really enjoying it so far!
I am hoping ...
We have a very busy week this week. I am hoping we can get all the things done that we need to get done!
Makes me smile ...
Mama and baby. I wonder what lesson is being taught?
I am learning ...
To wait on the Lord's timing in things. Patience. He knows best.
Around the house ...
Dreaming again . . .
I love this sink skirt. I hage always wanted to do this in a bathroom.
If this was our own house, I would knock out the walls between the kitchen and the rest of downstairs and have an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area. Like a great room. Sigh . . .
Stone Crocks filled with old wooden utensils . . .
Vintage Embroidered Tablecloths.
White on white embroidery . . .
I am pondering ...
Should I or shouldn't I let Mitzie go over onto the grassed area now, or is it still too wet? She is sitting out there looking at it with longing . . .

And I do too!!
Good morning Marie,
ReplyDeleteI hope your day is blessed beyond belief.
While your days are shortening ours are beginning to lengthen but in truth because we are subtropical there is no dusk and it is always dark early. Today went over 30 degrees and I am thirsty because I did not get enough to drink. I hope Mitsy get her time outside. How I wish I couldl let Tonks outside to play. Alas it is against the law. I have a teenage boy cat who needs to stretch and climb etc.
I absolutely adore the little mushroom ornaments. So very sweet.
God bless,
Suzan
Glad that you enjoyed Suzan! I sure wish that cats were not allowed outside here! They are a real problem! xoxo
ReplyDeleteMorning Marie, it's a rather dull start down here, but hope it brightens up soon as I am going on a coach trip to Swanage that the church has organised. I do like the idea of putting that wee Xmas tree and ...snow..in a jar ! Hope that Mitzie has been allowed out. It is a shame that cats are so annoying when they visit our gardens...again though I am sure up to the owners not training them well...Although I am not an exact cat lover I certainly wouldn't have one if it had to be kept indoors all the time.
ReplyDeleteFriends of mine had a cat that was a ..house cat...poor wee thing he was always sat gazing out the window I used to be so sorry for him...I know how much Mary's Amber loves just lying in the sun...have a lovely day, please try not to do to much...pace yourself and Tod xxx
Afternoon tea...oh, the best time of day. Any time of day with a cuppa is best! ;o) SUPER-CUTE and fun Christmas idea. LOVE that little felt robin! LOVELY white & wood kitchen... *swoon*... I've always loved beautifully embroidered linens too. I should do more embroidery! Happy Day, my friend :o) ((LOVE & BIG HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI have been procrastinating and putting off starting my Christmas projects. I do have what I need to start, but these lazy days of summer have been just that...lazy ones for me. Hope you have a terrific Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteThis is your birthday week!
ReplyDeleteI hope eveything comes up roses and sunshine;)
Love that snowglobe..I think I have a teacup similar to the ones you have shown here..have to look..would have been my mom's..
Fingers crossed for the computer!
So far so good Monique! I love these tea cups in this photo. They remind me of Mary Englebreit for some reason! Very vintagy looking! The computer is ready to be picked up. we just have to find another £30 to get it back! End of week. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think that little felt robin is the cutest thing Tracy! I am bound and determined to do more Christmas projects this year! Better start now! Love and hugs. xoxo
ReplyDeletePam, like you I want to do more and I know I better get started soon, or once again the holidays will be upon me and I'll be too late! xoxo
Wow! I could actually log onto your blog today. It took a few tries but it let me on. I LOVE all that you posted Marie. All these things warms my heart! Thanks Pal! I love you! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSybil, I am so sorry, I didn't see your post yesterday! We used to have cats when I first moved over here. We had two and it is impossible to keep them in your own garden or from wandering. I do think that they need to be out and about. I just wish they didn't want to be out and about in our garden, lol. I suspect our love of Birds and our fish are very attractive to them! Love you! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you were finally able to log on Valerie! I wish I knew the problem! Love you! xoxo
