It's ten to seven and black dark and cold. Only 9 days left until Christmas . . . and fifteen until the end of 2014. This year has just sped by.

About the goings-on in Sydney, Australia yesterday. I am grateful that more people were not hurt. I am amazed however that a man facing so many criminal charges of a sexual nature was walking free on bail. The mind boggles. Is this just the tip of the iceberg?

I have been working hard on my portfolio for the liscensing company. Lots of pencil sketches done now waiting to be coloured in. I love the quietness in my craft room. Just me and my music and my pencils and colours. I am happiest there. I never know what is going to come out. Stuff just arrives, springing from the ends of my fingertips.

Visit Teaching on Friday, London on Thursday (keep your fingers crossed I do well!) The Christmas Truce on Sunday evening. This is a special presentation being given at chapels all over the UK this Christmas. You can read more about it here. The scriptures at the moment and this months' Ensign magazine. Feeling a need to feel closer to my Heavenly Father. Mind you I read the scriptures all the time. I have asked Santa Claus for a set of journaling scriptures.

I practice my penmanship every day. I do. It's helping a lot. My writing is getting less sloppy. I think because we mostly type these days on the computer, etc., and rarely write a letter, etc. our penmanship ability and skill is going down the tubes.

ReplyDeleteLike you I was horrified that a man with such a history was free...however, there are many sexual predators out there. Even convicted paedophiles return to the community. some have been so inappropriate and still they remain and sometimes some innocent is hurt. Today there was another petition and I signed it. We need to be vigilant and protect the innocent.
I have that bible and it has a few notes in. None so pretty though. I hope you do get one. I gave one to my aunt last year as a forever present.

ReplyDeleteI have to tell you that I have the two front vintage potholders you have pictured today. I keep them with my Christmas decorations and hang them up in the kitchen for Christmas. Oh Marie, However do you get so much done in a day...what with your art work which is sos so beautiful and then I read about you practising your handwriting ! and then all teh cooking you do..no wonder your days and weeks and months fly past so quickly..
ReplyDeleteI expect you are going down by train ? are you staying overnight ? It will be a long day if you are not. I think Londin will be so colourful at Christmas with all the lovely lights etc. I would love to go up and see it all. However it is not really sensible with Mary and me and wheelchair !! Mary is getting very very slow these days and sometime I even have trouble getting the wheelchair to go as slowly LOL I know she feels it herself but I try not to make anything of it.

Marie, You will do just fine for your debut. I agree that you should just be yourself and show your love of cooking. The little fairy in the tree is delightful and what fun to hide a few in a tree, dangling from a lamp, maybe over a bed to bring happy dreams.

Sybil. I cannot just sit and watch the telly during the day. To me it seems a waste of time. Probably my upbringing! My mother wouldn't let us! We are going down by train, off-peak, their treat. I am afraid it will just be down, pick up from station to telly studio, screen test, taxi back to train station and then home again. No time for pleasure this time, although it would have been nice! I can't complain however as I know the tickets for the both of us have cost them a bomb! xxoo

ReplyDeleteI too think penmanship is going down the tubes. They don't even teach cursive writing anymore in some of the schools here in the States. Sad!
