Small and wonderful things . . .
"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny?...It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. what you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

It's such a small thing . . . but it's everything. Love. Without it we wither and fade away . . . our lives having lost all meaning. Love is a force of nature. However much we may want to, we can not command, demand, or disappear love, any more than we can command the moon and the stars and the wind and the rain to come and go according to our whims. Love is inherantly free. We cannot buy, sell or trade it. Love is an action word. It is bigger than we are and yet it can be found in the smallest and simplest of actions. It cannot be turned on and turned off. It just is.
Love cares what becomes of you because love knows that there is a connection between all living things. Caring and compassion are is deepest and most inherant qualities. Love knows that "the other" is also oneself. This is the true nature of love, and as much as we may try to quell and restrain it, we will always find ourselves unable to. Love honors the sovereignty of each soul and is it's own law.
Love is . . . all we need. With it, everything else just falls into place naturally.

Small, big or everything in between . . . pom poms delight. As the trim on a sweater, or a cap . . . at the hem of a set of kitchen curtains, pillow edging, on the end of a pencil, napkin rings, tiny creatures . . . pom pom flowers. They all make me smile. Love this idea of a pom pom garland on a cake. Even the word cheers my heart. Pom Pom See what I mean?
Mitzie was laying on her back on the sofa the other day wagging her tail. It was so cute. Her tail was going a mile a minute. I managed to get about 41 seconds of it on my camera as a video. Ignore my talking and Todd's breathing. You can hear her tail pitter patting against the sofa pillow. Every time I watch this I smile. It does my heart good. Puppy tail wags. They're a wonderful thing.
I tell my self this each morning and even if it doesn't exactly end up being true . . . I have lost nothing in believing it to be so.
The smell of lilacs in the air. The lilacs are in full bloom now and they are simply breathtakingly beautiful. I love LOVE their scent. I would love to plant one in our garden, but for now I am resigned to just enjoying the lilacs in other people's gardens. It doesn't matter where they are really . . . I'll enjoy them regardless.
This wonderful man God gave me. He may not be perfect, but he's perfect for me. I know you know that. I know it too. That is a sweet sweet fact I hold close in my heart. Some people are very blessed and find their soul mate early in life or the first time around. When you wait a whole lifetime to find someone special like that, it is ever the more precious. For time and all eternity. I am his and he is mine. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Having someone's hand to hold. It's a small thing, but it's everything to me. Having a hand to hold means you are never alone.
And that's it for this week. Thank you all for your happy thoughts and prayers.
A thought to carry with you through today . . .
