A Sunday morning quickie . . .
The finest tonic in the world,
The cheapest and the best,
Put the pills and drugs aside
And put this to the test.
Take a walk and fill your lungs
With air that's fresh and clean.
Even in a city you can find a patch of green.
When you feel run down
And out of tune with everyone,
Get out in the open
In the rain or in the sun.
Breathe the air that blows from heaven
Deeply, thankfully.
It is Nature's medicine.
It's wonderful. It's free.
~Patience Strong
Just a short one this morning as I am running late and need to get ready for church. I think I overdid things a bit yesterday. It was a nice day and sunny, so I hung laundry out and gave the bathroom a good old scrub all over, instead of doing it a bit at a time like I usually do. And then I had a clear out of our buffet and organized it a bit better. Took a bunch of stuff down to the Charity shop etc. Then I put a nice dinner for Todd on to cook. By mid afternoon, BOTH knees were done in and I could hardly walk. Todd had to load the dishwasher for me, and I made it upstairs to put on my nightie and that was it for the rest of the day and evening. I just sat nursing my knees.
At one point I was in tears. I said to Todd I don't know what I would do without him. I just could not manage on my own. That makes me very sad when I think about it. He is 17 years older than I am and yet, he is having to do all these things for me, when it should be the other way around.
In any case today is a new day and I will try to take it as easy as I can! The mind is willing, but the body lets me down.
A thought to carry with you through today . . .

I hope you are feeling much better today. I've learned to be good to myself and do a little at a time and rest a lot. Eventually it gets done. Better to do a little when you can. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeletePut your feet up today Marie and have a well deserved rest. Hope you're feeling better soon. Much love xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Kate and Pam! I learned my lesson. No more trying to get it all done in one day!
ReplyDeleteWe are all guilty of that..
ReplyDeleteHope you are much better today!
Thank you Monique!
ReplyDeleteOh Marie I am so very sorry that you ended up in such awful pain after trying hard to do domestic stuff. It does not seem fair. I am so happy you have a husband with a servants' heart. Have you every heard The Servant Song?

God bless your day
Marie, you are doing MORE than enough. Lovely Todd is doing his supportive bit. But - you do need to get those knees sorted. My husband had the same problem in his 70s, but you you are a young woman with plenty of potential mileage in you. As others have already said, pending treatment, rest all you can. xx

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are in pain.....Some how we for get from time to time,We all do it. What use to take a hour now takes a week.It can drive one a little crazy.Todd is a great guy. I keep you and your little Family in my prayers always.oooxxx
I'm having lots of trouble with my joints too Marie - and I hate it! We're leaving Friday for a five week mission trip and I'm concerned about having a bad flareup while I'm there. And in July my husband and I are going to England and Ireland - I wonder if we'll be anywhere close to you - so there will be a lot walking. I'm hoping the spring pollen will go away soon so I can begin a walking regimen. blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Suzan. I Loved it!
ReplyDeleteBunny, I am trying to lose weight yet again. I am like a yoyo, up and down, up and down. It's so hard too when you can't exercise like you want to.
Thank you so much CathyJo, you are a treasure.
Thanks Marlene. I will pray for your knees and your mission. I do hope you are in our area. We are not that far from the Ferry that you take to Ireland in Holyhead, so maybe we can meet up for a meal or something? That would be lovely!
